Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the Yedu apps and yedu.shop. By creating an account or using Yedu, you agree to them. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy.

1. What Yedu is

Yedu is a marketplace that connects buyers with independent sellers of African goods. When you buy something on Yedu, your contract of sale is with the seller, not with Yedu. We provide the platform, payment processing through our payment partners, buyer cover, and tools for sellers; we are not the seller, manufacturer, or shipper of items unless expressly stated.

2. Who can use Yedu

You must be at least 18 years old.
You must provide accurate information and keep your account secure. You are responsible for activity on your account.
You may browse as a guest; buying, selling, and messaging require an account.

3. Buying on Yedu

Prices are shown in your local currency. Where a seller lists in another currency, the displayed price is converted at the rate shown at checkout; the converted amount you confirm is the amount you pay.
Delivery estimates are provided by sellers. Made-to-order items show longer lead times, which you accept when ordering.
Buyer cover: if your order does not arrive, or arrives significantly not as described, and you report it to us within 30 days of the latest estimated delivery date, we will refund you in accordance with our buyer cover process. Buyer cover applies only to payments made through Yedu.
Never pay a seller outside the app. Off-platform payments are not protected and are a breach of these terms.

4. Selling on Yedu

You must have the right to sell the items you list, describe them accurately, and use your own photos and videos.
You are responsible for fulfilling orders within your stated dispatch time and for complying with the laws that apply to you, including consumer, food safety, customs, and tax obligations in the countries you sell from and to.
Fees: Yedu charges a commission on each completed sale, plus payment processing costs. The applicable rates are shown to you before you list and may change with 30 days' notice.
Payouts are made to your nominated account by our payment partners after the order is completed.

5. Prohibited items and conduct

You may not list or sell:

Counterfeit or stolen goods, or items that infringe someone's intellectual property.
Weapons, drugs, medicines, tobacco, alcohol where restricted, live animals, or wildlife products.
Food or agricultural products that do not comply with the import rules of the destination country.
Anything illegal in the seller's or buyer's country.

You may not:

Harass or defraud other users, or misrepresent who you are.
Take transactions off-platform to avoid fees or buyer protection.
Interfere with the operation or security of Yedu, or scrape it without permission.

6. Your content

You keep ownership of the photos, videos, and text you post. You grant Yedu a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, and promote that content in connection with operating and marketing the marketplace. You can end this licence for future use by removing your content or deleting your account, except where content must be retained for legal or dispute purposes.

7. Termination

You can close your account at any time (see account and data deletion). We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms, create risk for other users, or where required by law. Where fair, we will warn you first.

8. Disclaimers and liability

Yedu is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we are not liable for the acts or omissions of buyers or sellers. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid through Yedu in the 12 months before the claim and 100 GBP.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales, unless the consumer protection laws of your country of residence give you additional rights and venue.

10. Changes

We may update these terms. For material changes we will give you at least 30 days' notice in the app or by email. If you keep using Yedu after the changes take effect, the new terms apply.
